I liked that this poncho is as light as the flimsier ones out there made out of the cheap clear plastic film, but was substantially stronger. Made of the same stuff as the Bivvy sack and tube tent, but cut to fit and “welded” below the arms. And the addition of the hood makes it better than just wrapping the blanket or tube around oneself.
I also checked it with a decent-sized backpack underneath, and it managed to cover fairly well. Depending on how windy it gets, it may still let a little rain get in, but not likely, and in a pinch a little belting can perhaps tame it. You can fit something under in front as well.
I would like very much if it came in a less glaring color. The orange is great for visibility, BUT, one might prefer a more discreet option, like the muted green offered in the Bivvy sacks. I have both colors of those and would have gone with that if possible. I can always pull out my option to make myself MORE visible, it’s nice to be able to choose ahead of time. I understand you can’t always arrange for multiple colors right up front, maybe eventually a camo version will show up on the website, for those who really want it, that’s not me,,,,,,,,
Pricing was outstanding too on these!
