Thought I'd try this machete... 3CR13 steel, which is not terrible for a Chinese steel. Good corrosion resistance, medium hardness, medium low blade edge retention, good toughness.
Somewhat disappointed in the blade thickness, seems fine for gardening, but not sturdy enough for bushcraft. Hand grip is tactile & and except for the finger notch, comfortable. Would be better for hot spots/rubbing without the finger "nub". Saw cuts on backside are sharp, and maybe useful in an emergency. Sheath is better than some, but has very thin plastic liner and weak snaps on the fastening strap. Obviously foreign made to extreme low standards.
