I got this for a Xmas gift, so I haven’t had much time to evaluate yet. Overall the quality is as described, but be aware this is a very light machete that seems better designed for combat or defense than for house or garden use. The quality of the ‘stainless’ steel blade is adequate, but the blade is still rather soft steel. As such, even minimal contact w/ a hard surface will dull the blade significantly. The blade is thin and flexible which makes this light and suitable for fast swings, but don’t even think about prying or twisting as it will bend quite easily. Haven’t tried out the saw blade part yet, but likely it will dull on all but the softest of woods. The saw blade extends most of the length of the back, which means you would not want to use the back of the blade to hammer anything like a tent stake. Obviously this is a slashing or sawing tool only.
Additionally, the scabbard is just OK, the carrying strap is extremely flimsy and I wouldn’t expect it to hold up to much wear or stress of any kind. It’s attached to the scabbard w/ a bit of stitching only and the metal adjusting loops are thin wire which would bend or break. The belt loop attachment on the other hand, is much sturdier and is fastened on w/ rivets. So, if you plan to use this on your next trek thru the jungle, wear it on your belt, otherwise you might lose it.
